Resolve to Schedule Annual Eye Exams
The new year is here. For many of us, that means making resolutions to live happier, healthier lives. So often, people make resolutions they just can’t keep up with after a few months (or maybe even weeks). Why not make a new year’s resolution you can easily keep every year?
We’d like to recommend that you make your annual eye exam a resolution for 2014. It’s important to have an eye exam each year. Wouldn’t it feel great to make a resolution of going to your optometrist?
Perhaps you are new to the San Diego area and looking for a new eye care professional. Our team here at Spektacles would love to consult with you! By scheduling an annual eye exam, you can help maintain healthy vision while being proactive about your total body wellness.
The annual eye exam is so much more than a simple check of your vision. While it does encompass that, it also checks the relationship between your eyes and your brain. The annual exam tests the pressure of the eye to check for cataracts. The muscles around the eye get checked, too.
There are people who ABSOLUTELY need an annual exam. If you have diabetes, you need to see your optometrist annually. Diabetes is a leading cause of blindness in the U.S. today, and the threat to your eyes should not be taken lightly. Individuals with diabetes face a greater threat of eye problems like glaucoma and cataracts. If you have diabetes, don’t risk your healthy eyes. See your optometrist every year.
Contact wearers need an annual exam, too. Not just for up to date prescriptions, either. There are other health concerns associated with contact lenses. The eyes need to be checked for oxygen flow and healthy blood vessels. The Food and Drug Administration requires your optometrist to do annual exams for the purpose of updating your prescription, too.
Perhaps your eyes have changed and your glasses don’t seem to do the trick anymore. Or maybe you’ve never had glasses and are experiencing vision issues that could require some. Whatever your current vision situation, it’s important to put the health of your eyes at the top of your priority list.
So why not knock out your annual eye exam and keep a resolution, too? Starting this year, schedule your annual eye exam for early January.
